Paraclete Press is a publisher of Christian books, music and DVD's from Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and Jewish perspectives and traditions. It is our mission to publish materials which remind us, “Never lose hope in the mercy of God.” (The Rule of St. Benedict). Gregorian chant is the central tradition of Western plainchant, a form of monophonic, unaccompanied sacred song in Latin (and occasionally Greek) of the Roman Catholic ian chant developed mainly in western and central Europe during the 9th .

Solesmes enjoys an enviable reputation. Its work in liturgical reform and in the current revival of Gregorian chant have been likened to that of the legendary monastery of Cluny, in the Middle Ages. Some melodies included in this glorious compilation are: The Mass of the Angels Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. A large factor of why Gregorian chant did not die out completely is the involvement of monks at the French monastery at Solesmes, and other such monasteries, who during the 19th century were commissioned by Pope St. Pius X to modernize Gregorian chant (D’Silva).

Music Fourth Year - Gregorian Chant: p: By Justine Ward. This is the first edition of Justine Ward's classic instructional text on Gregorian Chant. Appearing in , it taught generations how to sing chant according to the methods and principles developed by Dom Andre Mocquereau at the Solesmes Monastery in France. The oldest written tradition of European music, the art we know as Gregorian chant, is seen from an entirely new perspective in Katherine Bergeron's engaging and literate study. Bergeron traces the history of the Gregorian revival from its Romantic origins in a community of French monks at Solesmes, whose founder hoped to rebuild the moral.
